Designed by Ernesto Gismondi and manufactured in Italy by Artemide in 1975.
White enameled steel with black steel-tubing stem, and black wire bulb guard. The 1st edition of these lamps, they do not have the aluminium diffuser, instead the Philips Cornalux bulbs feature a silvered top half.
It is also worth noting that the bulb guards on this version are rather more delicate and finer in their construction to those on later versions. It’s not a detail the uninitiated will notice, but it makes for a more refined finish.
Unlike the more recognized ‘Tavolo’ version, they have clamp bases. The base swivels around 270°, and can be tightened to remain in the desired position. The round adjustment knob allows for both length and angle adjustment. Thus; the direction of light is extremely customizable.
