Silver-Plate coffee pot and creamer, attributed to F.W.Quist, Esslingen, Germany.
An unusual bachelor’s coffee pot, and creamer with cane-work handles, the coffee pot with ebony finial.
The squared body of each piece gradually tapers toward the top, a pattern familiar to Quist silver (and silver-plate) ware since the early 1900’s. Earlier examples had a more ‘fluid’ spout, and handles more in-tune with the Jugendstil movement. For this edition; the simpler caned-handles and more angular spout on the coffee pot (along with its finial) are closer Bauhaus movement forms. There are still some hang-overs from the earlier incarnations, all of which make this a very interesting set.
Cane-work is in excellent condition, whilst the silver-plate on both pieces has some patina.
