Hand-Carved in England.
Alabaster has been used for its decorative properties since ancient times, and more recently (during the 14th and 15th centuries) alabaster sculpture was a major British export. Often these examples were painted, or treated to reduce their translucency; to emulate Marble more closely.
The piece of alabaster used here has not been treated, and is all the better for it; the natural lines and slight translucency, far from detracting from, only add to its beauty.
